Things to Consider When Planning a Backyard Water Garden.

Water gardens are attractive and can make wonderful additions to your backyard garden. A water garden has the ability to attract wildlife as well as provide an aesthetic value to your home's landscape. When creating a water garden there are several things to keep in mind and flush out before construction begins.

First of all you will need to consider whether you would like to have fish in your water garden. Many people enjoy stocking their gardens with a variety of fish such as goldfish and Koi. If you decide that you want to have fish, then you will need to do a bit of preparation. A proper pH is important for the survival of the fish, and should be between 6.5 and 8.4 for the best results. You also will need to be sure that you treat your water to get rid of any chlorine, which can kill the fish. If you intend to keep your fish outside all year long, then the water in the pond will need to be deep enough so that the water will never freeze completely. While fish can survive on leaves and algae, it is important that you provide them with some fish food too.

Next you will want to decide where you want to place the pond. You will want to avoid having it close to trees that shed their leaves. It is best to place your water garden in an area that is bright and sunny and away from trees or bushes that may drop debris. If you do decide to have fish in your pond, you may want to have a bit of shade for your fish, so choose a place that is near some bushes that will not drop a lot of leaves in your pond.

You also need to consider what size you need for your pond. If you decide that you want fish, you are going to have to make sure that it is large enough for the fish and that even as they grow it will be large enough as well. You may also want to consider other wildlife, such as frogs that may move into your pond. It is important that your pond is big enough for the wildlife you want, but it needs to be easy to maintain as well.

There are several plants out there that thrive in ponds. You will need to decide which ones you'd like to place in yours. There are flowers that live in ponds. There are also lily pad plants that frogs tend to enjoy. Most of the plants that live in ponds are green and some are leafy, but there are the flowering varieties as well. The flowers are limited, but add nice color to a pond with lots of green plants floating about in it.

A water pond can be an enjoyable addition to your landscape. It will bring you joy over the years as you enjoy your creation. Once it's been created you'll find that it takes care of itself for the most part. It will be yours to enjoy and cost you little time and effort in upkeep.

Tips for Outdoor Stairway Lighting

With the proper Outdoor stairway lighting you will have both an aesthetic and security access to your property or business.

In our modern Society there is a wide variety of outdoor stairs and there is also a very wide choice of outdoor stairway lighting. Your first concern should be to provide security. Nobody likes traversing stairs in the dark, especially if your not empty handed. As the years goes by many people renovate their houses by adding decks. Adding Outdoor Stairway lighting to these dark areas might be a very good aesthetic and safe choice.

The amount of outdoor stairway lighting you want will determine the type of light you need. There are multiple types available:

- Poles attached near the steps
- Wall mounted stairway lighting
- Miniature flood lights
- And lots more…

One of the most common problems associated with outdoor stairway lighting is to have a power source available which can be hard and impossible for some. If this is your case, and you don’t want to spend the extra money it would cost to get a power source, you could look for solar powered lamps. They are very easy to install and they require no knowledge of electricity.

Automation is the way to go for low cost Outdoor Stairway Lighting

Even if you are not using solar power lights, there is a real advantage to having your outdoor stairway lighting connected to an automatic sensor. Having them turn on at dusk and off at daybreak can provide the light you need, but only when it is most needed. And in the case you don’t want to use or burn your lights when no one will see them or benefit from them, you can always use a timer to solve that problem. On top of that most of them can be connected to a simple on and off switch, so having an automatic sensor really is a must.

One very popular choice would be to add flush-mounted lights that can be fitted into the riser of stairs. Unfortunately installing this type of outdoor lighting is not without problems. TO do this you will need carpentry skills and electricity skills. This type of installation is usually the business of professional which makes it more expensive. If you intend to do this alone make sure you do it properly otherwise you could experience electrical problems.

Another popular outdoor stairway lighting would be the use of short lamp-style fixtures. Depending on the style of your house and your landscape this could be a very wise choice, providing you with safety and security to your outdoor spaces. Whatever style you choose you can only benefit from outdoor stairway lighting it will make your house look better at night but most importantly you wont have to navigate steps in the dark.
